The LB2 Kimono limited Edition comprises 100 fountain pen duets in complimentary colors. The green theme pen is named Shinrin (Forest) while the orange-brown theme is Sakyu (Desert) . The Makie-E technique employed is the Togidashi. The artist paints the urushi color lacquers, then sprays fine gold dust on the cap, barrel and section of the pen. He rubs and burnishes the urushi lacquer to reveal the design and to impart a lustrous shimmer. The Maki-E design is enhanced with hourizontal high relief rings. The artist paints these with urushi lacquer, then sqreads gold or silver powder on alternating rings. He paints more lacquer and finally polishes to a lustrous finish. The rings impart a unique and pleasant tactile feel to the pen. Every LB2 Kimono pen carries the prestigious Red Seal signature of the artist Tatsuya Todo on the pen barrel. He paints the individual limited edition number of each pen on the barrel end.
